Metso delivers automation system for a new power plant in Bandirma, Turkey
Metso Automation was awarded a contract for the delivery of a metsoDNA CR automation system to the new combined cycle power plant (CCPP) in Bandirma, Turkey.
The 920 MW power plant will be built for the Turkish company EnerjiSA Enerji Üretim A.S., a joint venture between the Turkish Holding Sabanci and the Austrian Verbund. Operational status is scheduled for summer 2010.
The new CCPP is based mainly on two gas turbines, one steam turbine – each delivering more than 300 MW – and two heat recovery steam generators.
This is the first joint project between Metso Automation and A-Tec Power Plant Systems (A-TEC PPS) AG, a company established in 2006. The core competence of the company is turn-key deliveries of large combined cycle power plants within A-Tec Industries AG. Embedded within the AE&E Group, A-TEC PPS benefits from a global network in the energy sector.
Bandirma, a seaport in the Asiatic part of Turkey, is located opposite of Istanbul at the southern coast of the Marmara Sea. The Power Plant is situated close to the shore.
Some years ago Metso Automation delivered the automation for another Power Plant in Turkey – the 800 MW CCPP in Baymina near Ankara.
