Metso IQ Moisturizer
Metso IQ Moisturizer (IQ Moisturizer) is the industry’s most advanced family of moisturizing systems. The air atomized micro droplet nozzle combined with a linear water control valve and an electromechanical actuator with position feedback is an application-matched solution for all paper and board grades. For very demanding applications this reliable, high-performance moisturizing system features patented air sealing and spray mist removal technology.
IQ Moisturizer’s two-stage spray head contributes to a balanced and application-matched mixture of air and water. The rotating air takes the water from the spray head and transforms it into a highly atomized, full cone spray pattern that is efficiently applied on the web. The small droplet size combined with high velocity increases the absorption into the web and allows applications closer to the surface treatment processes. IQ Moisturizer has a moisturizing efficiency level of up to 85%, which is the highest on the market.
The modular, compact spray boom design can be customized for all applications. Actuators can be located inside the spray boom or outside in a separate cabinet. The actuators in the separate cabinet provide consistent system operation by enabling maintenance during operation. At the minimum, the spray boom is equipped only with spray heads to make IQ Moisturizer’s dimensions smaller, enabling you to fit it into dryer sections with very limited space.

The electromechanical actuator that controls the linear water control valve provides stepless control with position feedback for accurate positioning and system diagnostics. The feedback signal of the actuator position provides the best diagnostics available on the market.
A control station for the electromechanical actuator features the latest automation technology from Metso. The control station takes care of the control and the operational diagnostics of the electromechanical actuators. The control station works as an operator and a configuration station for actuators, but it can also be used for interfacing to other systems through a serial link or an OPC Client. In stand-alone solutions, the control station can also be equipped with CD moisture control software.
