Efficient field device management

Metso has field device asset management solutions as a natural part of the Metso DNA process control system and for stand-alone installations. Both solutions lower the cost of ownership with efficient field device commissioning and performance monitoring, and as part of the process control system, will be a valuable addition no matter what developments may be introduced in the future. The provided diagnostic information supports predictive maintenance and can be used to plan regular maintenance activities, ensuring sufficient time to order spare parts and manage service resources.

The latest version of the stand-alone solution, Metso FieldCare 1.6 has been introduced in January 2011. The new version has possibility to prioritize critical devices for more accurate device analysis. For systems without HART functionality the Metso HART Gateway offers a easy connection in stand-alone projects making start-up fast. Configuration and maintenance information becomes available for both process operators and maintenance staff in the workshop or office.

For users of Metso DNA system the same functionality is provided in the Metso DNA Field Device Manager, as an additional function of the engineering tools, ensuring quick access to device information both in configuration and condition monitoring tasks.

Metso FieldCare and Metso DNA Field Device Manager are based on the FDT (Field Device Tool) open software specification supported by all major instrument and control system suppliers. Its ability to show both standard configuration parameters and device-specific functions eliminates the need for vendor-specific tools. HART, Profibus and Foundation Fieldbus communication protocols are supported and its web-enabled interface allows the information to be distributed anywhere across the user's network in real time.
