Major orders 2012

We have drawn up a summary of the major orders received by Metso in 2012. The list is based on the published press releases and will be updated when new orders are published. Please note that the list is not exhaustive and includes only major orders.

January

Metso will supply a complete tissue machine for Fabrica De Papel San Francisco S.A. de C.V., in Mexicali, Mexico. The tissue production line will start up in the second quarter of 2013. The value of the order will not be disclosed. This kind of production line is typically valued at EUR 10-15 million depending on capacity and scope of delivery. The order is included in Pulp, Paper and Power’s fourth quarter 2011 orders received. (Press release on January 10, 2012)

Metso has signed a contract with Camargo Corrêa and Hydrologic Company to supply equipment to the new crushing and screening plant in Venezuela. The new plant is part of the TUY-IV project, which includes the construction of a dam to supply water to Caracas. The project will be built in the northern part of the Acevedo Municipality of Miranda State in Venezuela. In addition to equipment, the contract includes supervision services. The value of the order is some EUR 10 million.Delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2012 and the project start-up is expected to occur in the same year. The delivery has been included in Metso Mining and Construction fourth quarter 2011 orders received.(Press release on January 9, 2012)

Metso will supply Mälarenergi’s combined heat and power plant (CHP) in Västerås, Sweden, with the world’s largest recovered fuel fired boiler. The new boiler with a fuel input of 167 MW will utilize circulating fluidized bed (CFB) technology and it will serve as a base unit to meet the disctrict heating power needs of Västerås and Hallstahammar municipalities. Metso’s delivery will account for about 30 per cent of the approximately EUR 300 million modernization project of the CHP plant.The modernized CHP plant will be commissioned in the middle of 2014. February

Metso will supply a pellet-fired heating plant to Tampereen Energiantuotanto Oy in the city of Tampere in Finland. The plant will be delivered by the Metso-Wärtsilä joint venture MW Power. The delivery will comprise a full-scope turn-key boiler plant solution, including all the necessary equipment and commissioning. The plant will be Finland’s largest pellet-fired plant, based on a technological solution that is the first of its kind in Finland. The value of the order will not be disclosed.The production of heat at the new plant will start in late 2012. The order is included in Pulp, Paper and Power’s first quarter 2012 orders received. Metso will supply a tandem rotary railcar dumper to Hamersley Iron Pty Ltd. in Australia. The equipment will be delivered to Hamersley Iron’s Cape Lambert, Port B iron ore operation in North Western Australia. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The order also includes spare parts, technical assistance during installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and performance testing. Delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2013. The order has been included in Mining and Construction first quarter 2012 orders received. (Press release February 2, 2012)

Metso has signed a contract with Consórcio Construtor Belo Monte (CCBM) to supply equipment to the construction of the Belo Monte hydroelectric power plant (UHE Belo Monte) in Brazil. The project is located at the Xingu River, Pará State, in the northern region of the country. In addition to the equipment, the contract also includes services and parts. The value of the order is some EUR 30 million. The complete delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2013. The order has been included in Mining and Construction third and fourth quarter 2011 orders received. (Press release February 3, 2012)

Metso will supply Kipas Kagit Sanayi Isletmeleri A.S with a containerboard machine for their new mill site in Kahramanmaras in southeastern Turkey. The start-up of the new machine is scheduled for 2013. The value of the order is approximately EUR 80 million. The main part of the order is included in Pulp, Paper and Power’s first quarter 2012 orders received and the automation package in Automation’s first quarter 2012 orders received. March

Metso will supply a new evaporation plant and an upgrade of an existing recovery boiler for Billerud Skärblacka AB’s Skärblacka mill outside Norrköping in Sweden. The goal is to strengthen the mill for the future by improving environmental performance and energy efficiency as well as to enable future company expansion. Metso’s delivery will contribute to this environmentally-oriented investment. The value of the order will not be disclosed.The project will go through two project phases. The first is to install the new evaporation plant and the second to upgrade the recovery boiler. The entire project is scheduled for completion at the end of 2013.The order is included in Pulp, Paper and Power’s first quarter 2012 orders received.(Press release March 1, 2012)

Metso and Fortum Power and Heat have signed a contract regarding a delivery of a bio-oil production plant and a related automation system to the Fortum power plant in Joensuu, Finland. The delivery involves a demonstration plant, in which bio-oil is produced from forest residue and other biomasses. The bio-oil produced in the plant can be used instead of heavy fuel oil, and it may be used as raw material in the chemical industry and biodiesel production in the future.The new bio-oil production plant is scheduled for start-up in the autumn of 2013. The value of the order has not been disclosed, and the order is included in Pulp, Paper and Power’s first quarter orders received. (Press release March 7, 2012)

Metso has signed a major service contract with Northland Resources AB, consisting of a six-year service, maintenance and inspection program for the Kaunisvaara iron ore processing plant, located in northern Sweden. The contract complements previous equipment and mill lining services order, announced in 2011. The total value of the order is EUR 73 million, including the previously signed contract worth EUR 19 million. The contract period will commence immediately, and the actual service will commence when the Tapuli process line starts to process iron ore in November 2012. The order is included partly in Metso Mining and Construction’s 2011 and partly in the first quarter 2012 orders received. The share of each year’s contract value will be included in the corresponding year’s order backlog. ( Press release March 26, 2012)

April

Metso will supply a complete set of mineral processing equipment for a Greenfield iron ore beneficiation plant to be built in Saraikela district of Jharkhand in Eastern India. The value of the complete plant on delivered basis is some EUR 15 million. The schedule of the new plant on delivered basis will be 14 months and is scheduled for delivery completion by March 2013. Metso has signed a contract with MMX mining company in Brazil containing vertical grinding technology. Metso’s 14 vertical grinding mills will be assembled to the expansion of the Serra Azul iron ore project, located in São Joaquim de Bicas, Brumadinho and Igarapé, in the state of Minas Gerais, south-eastern Brazil. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The order is included in Metso’s Mining and Construction first quarter 2012 orders received. (Press release April 23, 2012)

May

Metso will rebuild the white top kraftliner machine at the Piteå mill of SCA Packaging Munksund AB in Sweden. The rebuilt production line will be fully operational during 2013. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The order is included in Metso’s Pulp, Paper and Power first quarter 2012 orders received. (Press release May 31, 2012)

June

Metso has signed a contract with Codelco, a major Chilean mining company, to supply big cone crushers for a process improvement project in the Chuquicamata division. The contract also includes an automatic control system for crushers delivered by Metso. The complete value of the order exceeds EUR 9 million. Metso’s crusher delivery to the Codelco Chuquicamata will be completed within the last quarter of 2012. The order was included in Mining and Construction’s first quarter 2012 orders received. Metso will supply world’s biggest fully mobile, track-mounted crushing plant to Altay Polimetally LLP copper mine in Kazakhstan. The contract also includes large mobile feeding and conveying systems to move the crushed copper ore for further processing, and installation supervision and training. The complete value of the order exceeds EUR 11 million. Metso’s mobile crushing equipment to Kazakhstan will be delivered within the last quarter of 2013. July

Metso will rebuild an off-machine coater of the coated woodfree paper production line at the Changhang mill of Hansol Paper Co., Ltd. in South Korea. The rebuilt production line will be fully operational during 2013. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The order is included in Metso’s Pulp, Paper and Power second quarter 2012 orders received (Press release July 31, 2012).

August

Aiming to significantly improve the quality of iron ore produced, Metso will deliver a complete minerals processing system to Ferrexpo Poltava Mining Company in Ukraine. The value of the order is EUR 67 million, including previously signed two orders worth EUR 36 million.Metso’s equipment deliveries to the Poltava mine will be completed by the end of 2014. The new order is included in Mining and Construction’s second quarter 2012 orders received. (Press release August 31, 2012)

September

Metso will supply Chenming Jilin, part of Shandong Chenming Paper Holdings Ltd., with the relocation and rebuild of a paper machine for the company’s new mill site in Jilin Province, China. The value of the order will not be disclosed. A typical market value of this type of a relocation and rebuild project ranges from EUR 10 to 20 million. The order is included in Metso’s Pulp, Paper and Power third quarter 2012 orders received. (Press release September 26, 2012)

October

Metso will convert the combustion technology at the Haapaniemi 2 power plant of Kuopion Energia in Kuopio, Finland, from pulverized peat-fired combustion to fluidized bed technology. Metso’s delivery scope covers all the modifications in the boiler required by fluidized bed technology, such as modifications in the pressure vessels, new air, ash and fuel systems inside the boiler house as well as new superheaters and economiser. The rebuild will be carried out during the summer and early autumn of 2013. The value of the order will not be disclosed. Metso will supply Jönköping Energi’s combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Torsvik, Sweden, with a new biofuel-fired boiler. Jönköping Energi is expanding its CHP plant and the new unit will serve as a mid-load unit to meet the district heating and electric power needs of Jönköping municipality. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The expanded CHP plant will be commissioned during fall 2014. The order is included in Metso’s Pulp, Paper and Power third quarter 2012 orders received. Metso will rebuild the PM 1 cartonboard machine at the Riyadh mill of Obeikan Paper Industries in Saudi Arabia. The rebuilt production line will be fully operational in the middle of 2013. The value of the order will not be disclosed.The coater and air system rebuild order is included in Metso’s Pulp, Paper and Power third quarter 2012 orders received and the press section rebuild order is included in the second quarter 2012 orders received. November

Metso has been awarded a repeat order for four complete tissue production lines for HengAn Group in China. Two of the lines will be located at Shandong HengAn Paper Co., Ltd, in Weifang City, Shandong Province, and two at HengAn Wuhu Paper Co., Ltd, in Wuhu City, Anhui Province. Start-ups are planned to be successive with the first in December 2013 in Weifang. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The order is included in Metso’s Pulp, Paper and Power fourth quarter 2012 orders received. (Press release November 12, 2012)
Metso will supply PT Cikarang Listrindo in Babelan outside Jakarta in Indonesia with two power boilers with a total capacity of 270 MWe. The delivery will also include a Metso DNA control system. The investment will increase the company’s electricity production by approximately 30 %. The plant will be commissioned in 2016. The value of the order is approximately EUR 100 million. The main part of the order is included in Metso’s Pulp, Paper and Power fourth quarter 2012 orders received and the control system in Automation fourth quarter 2012 orders received. Metso will supply Värnamo Energi AB with a biomass power plant for combined heat and power production in Värnamo in Sweden. The start-up of the plant is scheduled for autumn 2014. The value of the order is approximately EUR 17 million. The order is included in Metso’s Pulp, Paper and Power fourth quarter 2012 orders received. (Press release November 23, 2012)

December

Metso and ZAO Russian Copper Company (RMK) have signed a contract to supply crushing, screening and grinding equipment – as well as on-site services for six years –to the first plant of the new Tominsky GOK copper concentrator in the Chelyabinskya region in southwestern Russia. The complete value of the order is approximately EUR 150 million. The complete value of the equipment order amounts to approximately EUR 65 million.The capital equipment order and the first year’s annual value of the services contract are included in Metso Mining and Construction’s third quarter 2012 orders received. Metso and Norampac have reached an agreement in principle for Metso to supply the mill maintenance services for Greenpac Mill in Niagara Falls, NY, in the United States. With this mill maintenance agreement Metso will establish and manage all maintenance systems and procedures at the mill. The value of the agreement will not be disclosed. (Press release December 11, 2012)

Metso will supply Norske Skog with a grade conversion rebuild from newsprint to lightweight coated (LWC) grades of their PM 2 machine at their Boyer mill in Tasmania, Australia. The rebuilt production line will be fully operational after several phases of rebuild during the first quarter of 2014. The value of the order will not be disclosed.
