Acquisition of Metso Corporation's own shares
Acting on the basis of the authorization given at an extraordinary general meeting, Metso Corporation has begun to purchase its own shares on the markets for use as payment in corporate acquisitions. On October 12, 1999, it was announced that Metso's Nordberg Group will acquire the assets and operations of Centric, a rock crusher and screen manufacturer in the United States, and that Metso's shares will be used in payment. In order to accelerate completion of the corporate acquisition, Metso Corporation aims to purchase 1-1.5 million of its own shares on the markets in quite a short time span, which may result in larger than normal orders and as a larger proportion of the daily stock exchange trading of the share.
By October 26, 1999, a total of 384,700 of the Corporation's own shares had been acquired. Metso Corporation can interrupt the purchase of its own shares or postpone the above-mentioned measures to a later date.
