Metso Paper has signed a 5-year maintenance agreement with Papiers Gaspésia in Quebec, Canada for their paper production line. Metso Paper will provide maintenance management services and preventive maintenance tools for PM1. Metso Paper will also provide maintenance data integration jointly with Metso Automation. The value of the agreement is not disclosed. The agreement represents Metso Paper's business concept covering the entire life cycle of the customers' processes including new machines and processes, service operations, process improvements and rebuilds.

According to the service agreement Metso Paper will ensure that proactive daily maintenance routines and procedures are brought into the mill's long-term use. The rebuild, which will cover all the main sections of the paper making line, will be completed during 2004.
