New Metso Instrumentation Panel simplifies vast range of process control valve related instrumentation and functionalities

Metso Corporation's trade press release on December 2, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. EET

The new Metso Instrumentation Panel helps simplify valve instrumentation components, leading to higher reliability and lower cost of ownership.

Automated process valves using pneumatic actuators always require a range of various instrumentation components to build specific functions for each application. In conventional single-engineered solutions, components are typically assembled all around the actuator. To date, valve assembly-related instrumentation has been a selection of individual components and functionalities, resulting in a complex mix of components and systems within a plant.

Metso Instrumentation Panel makes valve instrumentation simpler by providing a compact solution to enable users to achieve their objectives of efficiency and reliability when building up instrumentation functionalities, lowering the overall cost of ownership.

All instrumentation components on one panel

With its highly compact, modular design, Metso Instrumentation Panel centralizes all instrumentation components on one panel plate. This allows simple installation and easy maintenance access to all components from a single side. The Instrumentation Panel is built to meet the most stringent customer needs and withstands the most challenging plant environments.

"Metso Instrumentation Panel allows an easy way to select the right functionality and components to match the valve's stroking time and other requirements. The instrument function panels consist of predefined assemblies of pneumatic components. Each is designed to execute the most common process valve functionalities in the most effective way," explains Antti Jokinen, Product Manager, Metso.

Greater reliability and efficiency

The Metso Instrumentation Panel provides end users with significant benefits. All the chosen panel components are widely used and well-recognized brands in the market, so the reliability of the valve assembly increases while spare parts inventory and the number of instrumentation components decreases.

"Installation and maintenance is fast and easy, resulting in direct cost savings. Selecting the right product for the process application is easy and straightforward. The component layout on the Instrumentation Panel is standardized, which gives a homogenous look and layout," says Antti Jokinen. "All Instrumentation Panel components are selected to meet the most stringent requirements and a wide temperature range, making it possible for use in any process plant."
