Reconditioning of rolls based on TwinRoll Evolution technology

As a result of another technological leap forward Metso can now offer reconditioning of rolls with extended guarantees against cracks in the perforated plate, as well as the possibility of replacing individual perforated plates at the next reconditioning, regardless of where on the roll they are located.

The rolls are the heart of the press
Metso has been developing and manufacturing TwinRoll presses for more than 50 years. The TwinRoll Evolution was launched in 2009. In many ways this is a brand- new press, yet it is based on earlier generations of presses. Its main function is totally dependent on the rolls, and therefore great emphasis has been put in recent years on roll development and improvement. The result is rolls that are essentially the same as the earlier ones, but with important improvements in a number of vital areas.

Improved design and a new production method
A new patented design and a new production method have created a roll with significantly better properties. Fastening of the perforated plates with all-around welding has been replaced by pins, which fasten the plates to the bedding without built-in stress. The new production method is applicable on most of the rolls on the market today. It offers the possibility of extended guarantees against cracks not caused by wear or indentation.
