Metso is supplying to VRG Dongwha MDF Joint-stock Co. in Vietnam a front end system consisting of an EVO 64 Defibrator and chip washing systems for fiber production at the company's new medium density fiberboard (MDF) plant.
The company targets building a large MDF factory equipped with advanced environment-friendly technology and modern facilities from Sweden, Finland and Germany. The total investment in the plant will be $120 million. Construction is expected to start in May 2011 while start-up is expected during 2012.
Metso's scope of supply includes all of the main machinery for the EVO 64 Defibrator system, related motors, a control system. In addition to the Defibrator system, VRG Dongwha MDF Joint-stock Co. has purchased a Metso chip washing system. Production capacity will be 38 tons per hour.
The MDF/HDF plant is designed for a daily capacity of 1,200 m³ of board, with a total capacity of 300,000 m³ per year. The plant will be equipped with an 8 x 47m press, making it the largest MDF plant in Asia. Raw materials will be mainly Acacia Melalecusa, Cashew and Rubber wood from the provinces of Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh and Dak Nong.
VRG Dongwha is a joint venture company between the Republic of Korea's Dongwha group, a wood company in Asia and the Vietnam Rubber Industry Group (VRIG). The new MDF plant is to be located in the southern province of Binh Phuoc, Vietnam. It is expected to be the largest and most modern of its type in Asia. MDF from the plant will be exported as well as meet rising demands for this product on the local market. The plant will also offer employment opportunities to thousands of local laborers, while raising the value of rubber wood and other woods from plantations in the region.
