We specialize in filter fabrics and services for the pulp and paper, mining and chemical industries, energy production as well as for sewage treatment plants. An increasing percentage of our filter fabrics go to filtration applications which use or serve environmental technology. Over the years we have acquired invaluable expertise and know-how in filtration, as well as built up close cooperation with our customers. In fact, the best filters in the world are very often supplied with Metso’s Tamfelt filter fabrics.

Our goal is to supply fabrics combined with services that perfectly match our customer's requirements and provide technically and economically the best filtration result. The fabrics are designed according to the customer's equipment and process. Metso’s Tamfelt filter fabrics are easy to install and have a long life time which enable our customers to reach a high operation level at low costs. We offer expert know-how in the choice of individual filter fabrics and in technical solutions for comprehensive filtering processes.

The four main characteristics required of the filter fabrics are:

• low cake moisture content

Filter fabrics for pulp and paper

Filter fabrics are used in the manufacture of pulp and paper in a high number of different filtering equipment and washers, for example in pulp cooking, bleaching and recausticization processes, as well as in the manufacture of mechanical pulp and the reuse of fiber recovered from recycled paper.

The filtering equipment varies depending on the processes it is used in and on manufacturing age. All filters can be equipped with our fabrics. Our major products for the pulp and paper industry are:

There are fiber releases in the paper machine and in the filters that must be separated before discharging into sewage. The sludge resulting from sewage treatment is filtered and dried for incineration or transportation to a landfill site.
