The Annual Review describes Metso's business perfomance, the most significant events in 2003 and the corporate governance system. The Sustainability Report describes the effects of Metso's operations related to economic, social and environmental aspects. It also describes the impact of technology on sustainability.

Metso's most important target in 2004 is the improvement of profitability. The objective is also to strengthen the balance sheet by divesting non-core businesses.
