Highlights of Metso products

Decreased energy, water and raw materials use, reduced effluents and improved process efficiency are the outcome of our research and development work. These were the goals of the many innovations and products we launched in 2011, including the OptiConcept M. With new technology, our customers can enhance both their short-term competitiveness and their long-term business development.

OptiFiner Pro – a revolutionary low-consistency refining concept

The refining stage in stock preparation plays a crucial role in developing fiber properties for paper production. This greatly affects the runnability of the paper machine and the paper quality. We have launched a revolutionary low-consistency refining concept with the new OptiFiner Pro refiner.

In conventional refining, the fibers have to travel the full length of the refining zone and suffer excessive impacts, leading to increased fines, weakening of the refined fibers and inefficient delivery of energy to the fiber. The new OptiFiner Pro feeds the stock evenly across the bars directly in the refining zone, increasing the number of fibers that receive proper refining treatment.

The improved performance of OptiFiner Pro enables refining with fewer and more compact refiners, thus significantly reducing investment and maintenance costs. The high energy efficiency provides operational cost savings and supports sustainable development with lower entire life-cycle costs and less environmental stress.

Improved crushers combine high efficiency with low energy consumption

In Mining and Construction, we have added resources to speed up the technological development. High crushing efficiency and throughput, low energy consumption, versatility and safety are all features of the newly launched HP3 cone crusher and the C120 jaw crusher. Easy maintenance is another advantage, which, combined with the above-mentioned features, ensures the cost effectiveness of these improved machines.

The HP3 responds to market demands for increased production quality, reduced maintenance time and low operating costs. The new-generation HP models are comparable to their predecessors but offer increased versatility. In some cases, the power, performance and robustness of the new-generation models allow two crushers to be replaced with just one, thereby greatly reducing investment, production and operating costs.

The C120 combines uncompromising reliability, crushing efficiency and versatility – in both stationary and mobile applications – with safety and ease of use. Every detail of the C120 is engineered for reliable operation and long life, resulting in high, constant crushing capacity and uptime.

Expanding offering in Automation

In the area of process automation systems and flow control solutions, we are continuing to develop products and services for all our customer industries. For example, customers in power generation and in mining and construction can benefit from the new control applications added to our automation system.
