A family of advanced environmental solutions for the paper making line
Metso Paper can provide environmental technology solutions for its customers either by implementing modules for unit processes or by installing complete process solutions.
The OptiConcept is one example of a complete process solution, which addresses most of the significant environmental aspects associated with the paper industry. It responds to the ever-tightening environmental legislation and incorporates the concept of eco-efficiency. The OptiConcept not only answers the customer's environmental concerns but also offers significant financial benefits.
OptiConcept is a family of advanced solutions for paper making lines. In the approach system mixing is more efficient compared to when conventional technologies are used. Grade and production changes can be implemented faster due to the flow, consistency and ash controlling technology. Furthermore, the approach system contributes to faster recoveries from breaks and other discontinuities. Thanks to smaller water volumes and optimized mixing, electricity consumption is also significantly decreased.
Through the optimized positioning of pulsation elements the former produces symmetrical dewatering and excellent formation. Additives layering technology allows effective use of raw material, higher consistencies and lower flow rates, which all contribute to reduced energy consumption.
In pressing, the shoe press creates the basis of runnability. The press section combines with a transfer belt to provide excellent runnability and an even moisture profile. The closed draw of the press section guarantees good runnability even if recycled fibers or mixed furnish are used as raw material. However the production speed does not need to be compromised.
Dryer section runnability, evaporation efficiency and paper quality control are essential elements in paper production. The new generation blow boxes virtually eliminate web breaks in this fragile phase of paper production, which thus reduces energy consumption. The impingement dryer enables fast process control and can utilize natural gas as an energy source.
OptiConcept for board machines uses best available technology (BAT) to make linerboard and corrugating medium from recycled fibers. The process minimizes consumption of virgin pulp as well as other production inputs, decreases fresh water consumption and improves energy efficiency with increased consistency and low friction components. Optimized processes together with efficient controls reduce the demand for high quality raw material. Excellent runnability combined with speedy process control drastically reduces process waste.
