Metso's rock and mineral processing group is growing in U.S.

Nordberg Group, the rock and mineral processing group of Metso Corporation's Machinery business area, has acquired the assets and operations of the Helser Division of ANI Minerals Processing Inc., an American crusher parts, refurbishment work and service company. The deal took effect on November 20, 1999. The parties have agreed not to disclose the acquisition price.

This acquisition will strengthen Nordberg's position in providing full-line, after-market services for crushing equipment users in quarries and mines all over North America, and especially on the west coast where Nordberg has not had a facility of its own for repair and refurbishment of crushing equipment.

Helser's new manufacturing facilities, which are located in Portland, Oregon, can handle repair and refurbishment of even the largest of Nordberg crushers. Helser's net sales this year will be approx. EUR 10 million and it has 62 full time employees. Although a significant part of Helser's current business comes from services for Nordberg crushing equipment, the company also has experience of servicing other crusher brands.

According to the letter of intent signed in October, Nordberg Group has completed the acquisition of the assets and operations of W. S. Tyler, Incorporated (Centric), a US screen and crusher manufacturer, after receiving the approval of the US regulatory authorities. Somewhat more than 1.1 million Metso Corporation's shares were used as part of the payment.
