Outotec to deliver minerals processing technology for Salobo in Brazil

OUTOTEC OYJ PRESS RELEASE, JUNE 17, 2008 AT 10.00 AM


Outotec has been awarded a contract by Salobo Metais, a subsidiary of Vale, for the design and delivery of flotation and thickening technology for the first phase of Salobo Copper Project in Carajás, Brazil. The contract value is approximately EUR 9 million.


Outotec's scope of delivery covers 24 TankCell® 200 flotation cells equipped with blowers and air ducts, one high-rate thickener of dia 15m, one clarifier of dia 15m, spare parts and the supervision of installation.


Salobo's concentrator is estimated to produce in the first phase 100,000 tonnes of copper concentrate and, as a by-product, 130,000 ounces of gold annually.


Outotec's technology is due for delivery at the end of 2009.
