Outotec's ownership in Ausmelt increased to 37,4 percent

OUTOTEC OYJ  STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE, December 23, 2009 AT 10.00 AM

Outotec's ownership in Ausmelt increased to 37,4 percent

Outotec has increased its holding in Australian public company Ausmelt Ltd
through market purchases and holds today 37,4 percent of all the Ausmelt shares.
As a result of the share purchases, Ausmelt has become an associated company of
Outotec.

On December 10, 2009 Outotec announced that it had acquired 19.9 percent of the
outstanding shares in Ausmelt from the interests associated with the company
founder Dr John Floyd. In addition, Outotec launched an off-market takeover bid
to acquire all shares in Ausmelt.

A competing takeover bid for the Ausmelt shares has been published in Australia,
wherefore Outotec has amended and may further amend the terms of its initial
bid.

Outotec will announce further information on the matter once the takeover
process has been completed.

The acquisition of Ausmelt will not affect Outotec's outlook or financial result
in 2009 and neither will it have a material impact on Outotec's financial
position.
