Recent developments in regulations, the commitment of the governments of almost all countries to reduce CO₂ emissions, and investors’ demands for even higher decarbonization targets have led mining companies and steelmakers to set ambitious decarbonization goals for the coming years. Mining companies are under pressure from investors to reduce a rise in Scope 3 emissions, and this is directing even more attention toward emission reductions in steelmaking. Without these ambitious targets and increasingly strong regulatory pressures, CO₂ emissions from the steel industry are projected to continue rising. So what pathways are open to the industry to help it tackle the decarbonization challenge in the short to medium term?

Mr. Ahmad will be talking about these challenges, discuss solutions as well as share how, Metso Outotec, has been already developed a proven technology that can enable organizations to capably tackle the decarbonization challenge. The technology under discussion will be Circored^TM, a hydrogen-based reduction process in a fluidized bed developed in early 1990‘s by Lurgi Metallurgie (a predecessor of MO). After proving  the technical feasibility of the process in an industrial-scale demo plant in Trinidad, our team of experts have evolved Circored further to make (ultra-) low carbon emissions in Steelmaking a reality.  Join his session to find out more.
