Biography: Christian Cardoso joined Metso predecessor Outotec in 2019 as a sales manager for Minerals business area in our Santiago office, after 12+ years working for major mining companies performing several different roles related to metallurgy, operation, and projects. Since 2020 he turned into our Services business area and looked after technical sales support for flotation products in America’s regions, until the promotion to product manager. Christian currently serves as Product Manager Mechanical Flotation Services, based in Burlington, Canada, and is responsible for the global management and development of modernization products and spare parts for mechanical flotation technologies. Christian has a bachelor’s degree on Metallurgical Engineering from University of Concepcion in Chile.
Lauri Pesonen

Biography: Lauri Pesonen began his career at Metso’s predecessor, Outokumpu Technology, in 2007 as a process designer and commissioning engineer, focusing on flash smelting technology projects. His role quickly took him to copper and nickel smelters around the world, providing valuable hands-on experience. He later transitioned into product management and business development, broadening his expertise in the smelting industry.
Following international assignments in Toronto and Santiago, Lauri is now based at Metso’s headquarters in Espoo, Finland, where he leads global sales and marketing for smelting solutions. He holds a Master’s degree in Metallurgy from Aalto University and an MBA from Hult International Business School.

Biography: Mari Lindgren joined Metso predecessor Outokumpu Technology in 2004 as a Materials Engineer. She worked in Metso Research Center in Pori Finland in various research tasks covering material selection, testing and failure analysis for pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical technologies. Nowadays Mari is heading the R&D of Smelting product line and very much involved in co-operation with universities and academic institutions. Mari has PhD in Materials Engineering from Tampere University of Technology (Finland) and has co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific journal papers.
Martti Larinkari

Biography: Martti Larinkari is currently Sales Director – Hydrometallurgy, based in Espoo, Finland. In this role, Martti is responsible for Metso’s copper electro refinery technology sales. He joined Metso predecessor Outotec in 2008, to develop advanced automation and information systems. The work took him soon to several projects involving commissioning of copper electro refineries. Since 2014 Martti has been working at hydrometallurgy sales focusing on copper electro refinery projects. Martti has master’s degree in control engineering from Helsinki University of Technology.

Biography: Stefanie Creedy joined Metso’s predecessor Outotec in 2009, as a process engineer to support the pilot testing, design and commissioning of Ausmelt TSL projects. She has also been involved in the design and commissioning of Flash and Kaldo smelting projects. Currently Stefanie is a Customer Account Manager – Ausmelt TSL Smelting for Metso. Stefanie has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and metallurgy from the University of Queensland, Australia.
Petteri Pesonen

Biography: Petteri Pesonen joined Metso predecessor Outokumpu in 1998 as a research engineer and later as a development manager to work in Outokumpu Research Center in the field of hydrometallurgical research and development after which he switched into copper production industry as a process engineer and later as a superintendent in Boliden Harjavalta’s copper electrorefinery followed by rejoining Outokumpu Technology in 2006 to work as senior process metallurgist, later as technology and engineering manager within hydrometallurgical projects, additionally three years working outside the company. Nowadays Petteri is based in Metso’s main office in Espoo Finland and is responsible for copper hydrometallurgy technology as a technology manager. Petteri has a Lic.Tech degree in hydrometallurgy from Helsinki University of Technology.
Dmitry Sukhomlinov

Biography: Dmitry Sukhomlinov joined Metso in 2024 as a Research Metallurgist. He has been working at Metso Research Center based in Pori, Finland supporting process development, laboratory and pilot testing of the smelting technologies. Before joining Metso Dmitry worked as a researcher in the field of pyrometallurgy for 13 years at NTNU, Norway and Aalto University, Finland. Dmitry has a Doctor of Science (Technology) degree in Materials Science and Engineering (Processing of Materials) from Aalto University, Finland.

Biography: Jan van Niekerk is currently the Director, Gold Process Solutions based out of the Centurion office in South Africa. Jan holds a B Eng (Metallurgy) degree from the University of Pretoria and has been with Metso since 2015. He has over 25 years of experience in the hydrometallurgy of gold processing with specific areas including process design, plant commissioning and troubleshooting as well as test work design, research and process development. His current focus is on improving metals processing technology for deployment to industry.

Petteri Linja

Biography: Petteri Linja began his career at Metso’s predecessor, Outokumpu, in 2000 as a piping design engineer for CuER plants, later transitioning to a design engineer role. In 2005, he moved to the Kemi ferrochrome underground mine, where he managed various R&D projects. In 2009, he joined the ferrochrome plant in Tornio, holding several key positions including Section Manager, Sales Manager, and Maintenance Manager. In 2019, Petteri joined Outotec (nowadays part of Metso) as an ER Technology Manager. Today, he is based at Metso’s headquarters in Espoo, Finland, serving as Director of the Technology Group for Base Metals Hydrometallurgy. Petteri holds an M.Sc. degree in Hydrometallurgy from Lappeenranta University of Technology.
