How Metso LongLife wear parts helped extend liner life and improve wear consistency

For one U.S.-based aggregates producer, improving liner performance presented an opportunity to increase crusher availability and reduce maintenance interruptions. Operating a Nordberg® HP400™ cone crusher, the customer worked with official Metso distributor Mellott to compare the performance of Metso LongLife liners against a competitor's solution. 

Using liner scans and wear measurements throughout the campaign, Mellott evaluated both wear life and wear patterns under normal operating conditions. After switching to Metso LongLife liners, the operation achieved a 56% increase in operating hours compared to the competitor's liners. The analysis also showed more consistent wear throughout the crushing chamber. 

The longer wear life helped reduce the frequency of liner changeouts, while the more predictable wear patterns supported maintenance planning and liner utilization. Together, these benefits contributed to improved crusher availability and a lower cost per ton.
