Metso's sulphate leaching process is a sustainable and economical solution that it is especially effective on low-grade and impure copper feed materials. The process uses highly effective atmospheric leaching technology combined with world-renowned VSF solvent extraction and electrowinning technology.

  • Provides highly effective copper recovery from secondary copper sulfides    
  • Produces copper as standard LME-A grade cathodes    
  • Uses atmospheric leaching technology without fine-grinding    
  • Lowers oxygen and lime(stone) consumption due to sulfide oxidation to elemental sulfur    
  • Runs more economically at lower capacities than traditional processes

Ferric chloride process includes the following process steps:

  • Gypsum removal and solution cooling
