Join our HSC Chemistry™ training to learn how to model mass and energy flows, evaluate process performance, and perform advanced thermodynamic calculations for a wide range of industrial applications.

Key event details

Metso will provide suitable training facilities, including presentation equipment and internet access for all participants. Depending on the selected training course, participants will also receive the relevant training materials and software:

  • Workbooks in electronic format (pdf files) and (possibility to print copies onsite)
  • Training and exercises in electronic format and (possibility to print copies onsite)
  • HSC software with thirty (30) days (the License Period) course license for participants. However,
    during the course event the participants may also participate with their own separately licensed HSC Chemistry 10 software.

Participant software and device requirements (own cost and risk)

  • Laptops with Windows 8 or newer (64 bit)
  • Intel or AMD x64 processor with AVX2 instruction set support
  • Laptops with at least 8 GB memory and at least 10 GB free hard disk
  • Full HD or higher resolution display
    • External mouse for laptops
    • Functioning Microsoft Teams on laptops
  • HSC software installed and activated in the participants’ laptops by the Customer. HSC software is in
    the English language. Metso will deliver HSC software as well as the activation key and instructions to the customer at least two (2) weeks prior to the beginning of the courses

The software product(s) is/are not compatible with ARM systems, such as Qualcomm, Snapdragon-powered laptops or Mac computers with Apple silicon (M series SoC).

The training will be conducted in English. If interpretation or translation services are required, these must be arranged by mutual agreement before the course begins. Any costs associated with interpreters or translators will be the responsibility of the customer.

Metso will provide lunch and refreshments for all participants during the training days.

HSC Sim basics

This introductory one-day course provides a practical overview of HSC Chemistry™ fundamentals, covering the core features and workflows needed to solve process and thermodynamic calculations. Designed for beginners and intermediate users, it also demonstrates real-world thermochemistry applications. No prior experience with HSC Sim is required, while advanced users can benefit from exploring more complex topics through expert guidance.

 

Introduction to modelling with HSC Sim

Participants will learn to build and analyse simulation models using the Sim Flowsheet module through practical demonstrations. The course is ideal for metallurgists, researchers, and process engineers with a basic understanding of pyrometallurgy, and no prior HSC Sim experience is required.

The course is designed for metallurgists, researchers, and process engineers with a basic understanding of hydrometallurgy, and no prior HSC Sim experience is required.

This two-day course introduces HSC Sim Particles mode, focusing on minerals processing simulations and applications such as recycling. Participants will learn the fundamentals of HSC Sim, build and analyse particle-based simulation models, and explore practical minerals processing applications through hands-on examples. The course is ideal for metallurgists, researchers, and process engineers with a basic understanding of minerals processing, and no prior HSC Sim experience is required.
