The 15th International Flash Smelting Congress

The tradition of the International Flash Smelting Congresses began almost 45 years ago on October 23rd, 1972 when the smelter engineers from 14 Flash Smelters around the world convened in Pori, Finland to share their operating practices and experience. This tradition was continued in subsequent Congresses in Japan, Spain, Germany, Mexico and since then the International Flash Smelting Congress has been arranged every three years on different continents.

Now, the 15th International Flash Smelting Congress returns to Helsinki, Finland in September of this year. The Congress program includes three days of technical sessions where the Flash Smelting family shares their best practices for the benefit of all Flash Smelting licensees. The Congress will be co-hosted by Boliden Harjavalta Metals Oy and KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. The co-hosts have invited the Flash Smelting family to tour both the birthplace of Flash Smelting, the Boliden Harjavalta smelter, and the newest Flash Smelter in the world, the KGHM Głogów 1 smelter in Głogów, Poland. We are all very grateful to our co-hosts for this unique opportunity.

We at Outotec are very excited to have the honor to arrange this important event for the 15th time. We look forward to welcoming lots of old colleagues and meeting lots of new ones in Helsinki in September.
