How Recicam cut cost per ton by producing recycled aggregates with the Metso Lokotrack LT1213S

Learn how Recicam, a waste management company in Madrid, Spain, reduced cost per ton of crushed demolition waste by using the Metso Lokotrack® LT1213S™ for crushing, screening, and separating iron and plastic from the crushed material.

Recicam, a family business from Madrid, Spain, is dedicated to providing high-quality construction waste management services. According to the owner Juan Manuel Camacho, one of the main challenges they faced was the need for more machinery to increase capacity in both concrete waste crushing and secondary screening. The introduction of the Metso Lokotrack®  LT1213S™ HSI impact crusher has been a game-changer. “With the Lokotrack LT1213, we achieve quality product with a single machine and in one process, ready to be reused as an aggregate that is highly valuable today,” he says.

Equipped for producing recycled aggregates

Cesar Garcia, Director at Metso’s distributor Hispano Japonesa de Maquinaria (HJM), highlights the complexity of the process of crushing demolition waste that is often contaminated with plastics and paper. “Our solution includes various separation methods to produce top-quality recycled aggregates,” he explains. The LT1213S has a powerful magnet for separating iron from crushed concrete and a wind shifter that separates light materials such as plastic and insulation material. The high-capacity dual-slope screen and return conveyor make it possible to produce high-quality recycled aggregates out of demolition waste.

Cost efficiency and future expansions

Camacho emphasizes the importance of working with a reputable brand like Metso. Also the reliable follow-up support and quality of after-sales service provided by HJM have been crucial in maintaining their operations smoothly. ”The support received from both parties has been exceptional. HJM and Metso worked closely together, leading to a successful result with this application”, Garcia says.

One of the key benefits Recicam has observed is the significant reduction in production costs. Factors such as fuel consumption, wear and tear of materials, and blow bars have all seen considerable cost reductions with the LT1213S. “Today, we are very pleased. We’re confident it won’t be the only Metso equipment we will have; we’ll likely continue expanding,” Camacho shares. The state-of-the-art machines from Metso, combined with Hispano Japonesa de Maquinaria’s reliable after-sales service, provide Recicam with the peace of mind to operate efficiently and plan for future growth.

Celebrating 40 years of Lokotrack® mobile crushers

In 2025, we proudly celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic Lokotrack® mobile crushers. The journey began in 1985 when Metso (formery Lokomo) and crushing contractor Telamurska developed the first track-mounted crusher. This innovation allowed the crusher to be moved independently to the remote crushing sites, eliminating the need to transport rocks to a quarry and then bring aggregates back for road construction. The concept was so successful that Metso began serial production of Lokotrack crushers in 1987, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Today, Lokotrack crushers are found on every continent, including Antarctica, continuing to lead as reliable partners for aggregate producers worldwide.
