Customer involvement in testing is important to us at Metso. We view this as a crucial partnership and we encourage our customers to share their knowledge, stay involved, and learn through testing in several ways. Customers can be present and attend on-site tests, witness tests at our Dewatering Technology Center and participate in online discussion for more complex cases. Throughout the testing phase, our process engineers maintain continuous communication with customers to ensure a collaborative and informative experience.
One of the most interesting recent projects at the Dewatering Technology Center (DTC) in Finland involved a customer who visited our center for a couple of weeks. The project included thickening and filtration tests using various filter technologies. However, this wasn't just routine testing, but also ambitious development work. The customer had new polymers they wanted to test with different dosages and mixes. Initially, they had a preferred filter technology, but through collaborative testing and comparison, we identified a different filter technology that better suited their needs.
A few years ago, we conducted Larox® PF filter pilot testing at another customer's site. The moment they saw the first filter cake, they were convinced of the filter's effectiveness. The customer ended up renting the pilot unit until their own industrial-sized equipment was ready. Despite the pilot's smaller production scale, the customer valued the quality of the products it produced, leading to a successful order.
