On December 28, 2021, the first unit of The Karot Hydropower Station in Pakistan, invested and built by China Three Gorges Group, completed all commissioning projects with good indicators and has been ready for power generation. This is another major progress made in the construction of the project following the successful release of the diversion tunnel gate on November 20, 2021, laying a solid foundation for putting all units into operation by the first half of 2022.

In April 2015, the construction of the Karot Hydropower Station was witnessed by the leaders of China and Pakistan. Karot hydropower station is located on the Jhelum River in Pakistan's Punjab province, 55 kilometers from the capital Islamabad with a total installed capability of 720000 kw and a total investment of $1.74 billion. It is a priority project of "China-Pakistan economic corridor" energy co-operation projects, and the first large hydropower investment project among Silk Road projects, resulting a positive contribution for the construction of China-Pakistan economic corridor.

Once completed, the Karot Hydropower Station will generate an average annual power of 3.2 billion KWH, providing Pakistan with market-competitive clean energy and meeting the electricity needs of 5 million local people. This can effectively alleviate the power shortage issue in Pakistan. Once all the units are put into operation, they are expected to save 1.4 million tons of standard coal and 3.5 million tons of CO2 emissions every year. This will not only boost energy construction and economic and social development for Pakistan, but also help to achieve the global goal of "carbon neutrality."

The Metso Outotec GP220 cone crusher is the result of unremitting pursuit of first-class design and continuous product development Metso, and can be efficiently suitable for medium crushing, fine crushing and ultra-fine crushing operations. The IC automation system ensures smooth process adaptability and complete automation of the crushing process, thus ensuring that the crusher always operates at the best level of performance. In addition, the vertical spindle adjustment function and thicker lining plate application of GP220 crusher not only prolong the replacement cycle of lining plate, but also improves the utilization rate of each set of lining plate, effectively reducing operating costs and creating more value for customers.

"With high performance equipment, leading technology and professional solutions, Metso Outotec has been involved in the construction of major large and very large hydropower stations and nuclear power plants in China, such as The Three Gorges, Baihetan, Xiluodu and Jinping," said Li Ziqiang, Vice president of Aggregate sales for Metso Outotec Greater China. At the same time, since 2013, Metso Outotec has also provided crushing and screening equipment and services for dozens of "Belt and Road" projects. In the future, Metso Outotec will continue to fully support the implementation of Silk Road Initiative, a top-level national strategy, and help Bring China's clean energy technologies to more countries around the world.
