Mass Balancing is a common data reconciliation method used widely in metallurgy. It can be utilized in simulation, for example, to estimate the performance of the process, to detect bottlenecks in the circuit, and to create models of the processing stages. In HSC Chemistry, the Mass Balance tool is used in the HSC Sim module.
HSC and mass balancing module allows users to solve several types of mass balancing problems. Different solution possibilities include: solids, assays only, and solids & water independently. Liquid flow rates and solid percentages are solved only if the last option is used. For the assays only option, total solids measurements are required for all the flows to be balanced.
